Sterling Silver Celtic Triquetra Earrings
Sterling Silver Triangle Celtic Earrings. Origins of the Triquetra are unclear. It has been found on Rune Stones in Northern Europe, and on early Germanic coins. It is generally recognized as a Celtic Symbol. The original meaning is unclear. One popular thought is that this three-pronged knot may symbolize the Celtic philosophy that everything has 3 distinct yet interlocked levels - physical, mental and spiritual. When the Celts embraced Christianity they used this symbol to represent the Holy Trinity. Inspired by the 9th century illuminated Gospels of Lindisfarne, each triquetra (triangle) is constructed of one line to represented strength and give protection to the wearer.
